Fatal accident at Airway Drive and Quail Manor Court Tuesday

RENO — A 7-year-old passenger was killed Tuesday morning in a car accident at Airway Drive and Quail Manor Court. The other three people involved in the accident received non-life-threatening injuries.

On Tuesday at about 8:45 a.m., officers from the Reno Police Department responded to Airway Drive and Quail Manor Court on report of an accident involving two vehicles. The driver of a Ford Explorer was pulling out of a parking lot located at 3545 Airway Drive when it collided with a GMC Yukon. The GMC was traveling westbound on Airway Drive at the time of the collision.

The 7 year old inside of the Explorer was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Explorer, the grandmother of deceased, sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the GMC and her 9-year-old daughter inside the vehicle both sustained minor injuries.

The Reno Police Department Major Accident Investigation Team is currently investigating the accident. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Reno Police Department Traffic Division at 334-2141 or Secret Witness at 322-4900.
