The Sky Sox jumped out to a 3-0 lead and took a four-run advantage in the fifth. In the sixth, though, the Aces offense came alive, sending 13 men to the plate and collecting six hits — including a grand slam off the bat of Rusty Ryal, his second home run of the game.
Reno now has won 13 of its last 15 games and has gone 8-2 over the first 10 games of this 11-game road trip.
Barry Enright (5-3) earned the win, scattering six runs — five earned — on six hits over five innings of work. After Enright’s exit, three Aces relievers held the Sky Sox to just a run over the game’s final four frames.
Tuesday’s loss fell to Sky Sox reliever Tyler Johnson (0-1), who surrendered four runs in the sixth without recording an out.
At the dish for Reno, Ryal drove in six runs on the strength of a two-run homer in the fourth and a grand slam in the sixth. Jake Elmore was one-of-five Aces batters with a multi-hit effort, stretching his hitting streak to a career-best 21 games and pushing his on-base streak to 36 games — a new club record.
