CARSON CITY — The motorcyclist killed Thursday evening on U.S. Highway 50 in Lyon County near mile marker 33 has been identified by the Washoe County Medical Examiner/Coroner’s Office as 50-year-old David L. Donley of Fallon.

Donley had been traveling east on the two-lane highway on his black 2006 Harley-Davidson at approximately 9:27 p.m. when he allowed his motorcycle to depart the travel lane, striking the adjacent guardrail on the right edge of the roadway. His motorcycle deflected into the oncoming travel lane and struck another section of guardrail on the opposing side of the road, ejecting him from his motorcycle. Donley landed in the westbound travel lane while his motorcycle continued to travel several hundred feet more.

Shortly after being ejected, Donley was struck by another westbound vehicle whose driver did not stop at the scene. Donley sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses or anyone with additional information is encouraged to call 689-4682 regarding case number NHP-120606720.
