SPARKS — Granite Construction Company is celebrating its 90th year in business today.
“We are very excited to celebrate this milestone in our company’s history,” said Rod Cooper, regional manager of Granite Construction Company. “Granite was founded by principled leaders who established core values which has led to much of our company’s success through these many years of business.”
Established in 1922, Granite Construction Company received one of the first 100 construction licenses ever issued. Throughout Granite’s history in transportation infrastructure, the company has built a myriad of just about every type of project — from roads, highways and bridges, to rapid transit systems and airports.
Locally, Granite Construction has worked with the Nevada Department of Transportation, Reno Tahoe International Airport, City of Reno, City of Sparks, the Regional Transportation Commission, Washoe County and many more to improve the quality of life in northern Nevada, according to the company’s news release.
Some of the company’s most notable projects include ReTRAC, the widening of Interstates 395 and 80, the V & T Railroad, Cave Rock widening, the Virginia Street Bridge and many more.
“We are proud to have been a part of the growth of our community and we look forward to continuing to work together to continue the amazing progress we have made in northern Nevada,” said Cooper.
