While the number of families experiencing unemployment remains high, the need for shelter resources in our community is great. Family Promise provides a cost-effective way to shelter and provide support for families that otherwise would not have a place to stay. Operating on a shoestring budget, the program engages 25 local interfaith communities in providing overnight accommodations, food and volunteer support while program staff offer case management services for families in need of assistance.
The program gives entire families, including children, an opportunity to do volunteer work and learn about the problems that people face. The organization has been bringing Washoe County faith communities together to assist homeless families for the past 11 years.
All proceeds from this event support Family Promises efforts to transition families out of homelessness and into a stable future.
