RENO — A 17-year-old from Reno has been arrested for residential burglary and robbery, police said Sunday.

Reno police officers were called Sunday night to a home at 3550 Scottsdale Road on the report of a residential burglary in progress. The resident returned home and found the suspect burglarizing her home. The suspect allegedly battered the victim and fled from the residence on foot. Before he could escape, the suspect was detained by a family member with the assistance of neighbors.

Police say the resident did not suffer any injuries in the incident but the suspect sustained minor injuries as he was detained. He was treated at a local hospital before being booked by police.

Reno police remind residents to help deter criminals by remembering to lock and secure their homes when they are away.

Police believe that the juvenile suspect might have had accomplices and are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying them.

Anyone having information relating to this crime or the suspect(s) should contact the Reno Police Department at 334-2115, Secret Witness at 322-4900, report online at www.secretwitness.com or text the tip to 847411 (TIP 411) keyword “SW.”
