Deputy Armando Avina said Wednesday the accident occurred as two vehicles were being rearranged on the family’s property about 6:45 p.m. Tuesday.
Avina said it appears neither alcohol nor speed were factors. He said the SUV was moving slowly forward when 2-year-old Giovanni Serafin approached from the passenger side and was struck. He was pronounced dead about 7:30 p.m. at Renown Regional Medical Center.
Avina said they’ve identified the driver only as a family member so as to protect the identities of other children who live there. He said the family is cooperating fully in the investigation, which could take several weeks.
