SPARKS — Experience “old-time music” with skilled musicians hailing from the American Folklife Center at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Sparks Heritage Museum’s Cultural Center. This free concert features the lively duo of fiddler Alan Jabbour and banjo player Ken Perlman. As part of the Nevada Arts Council Folklife Education Programs, Jabbour and Perlman will also be offering a free banjo and fiddle workshop prior to the concert.

“Having only recently opened our new cultural center, we feel privileged to be hosting such high-caliber musicians,” says Anthea Humphreys, the museum’s executive director. “The Nevada Arts Council, the Sparks Tribune and John Ascuaga’ Nugget have made it possible to offer this event for free to local area residents and museum members.”

To reserve a spot in the banjo and fiddle workshops, call 355-1144. The workshop is at 4 p.m. and the free concert starts at 7 p.m. in the Cultural Center upstairs at the museum.
