The Summit’s Teen Advisory Board accepting

RENO — The Summit mall located in south Reno announced Wednesday that it is now accepting applications for the SummitUP Teen Advisory Board. The Teen Board gives 12 high school students who have a passion for community service and the retail and fashion industry a chance to team up with other students to head The Summit’s teen initiatives.

The Summit is looking for young men and women between the ages of 14 and 18 who are committed to helping others in the community and are interested in learning about retail and fashion through event support and programs at The Summit.

Community service is a core component of the Teen Advisory Board. Throughout the year, the board will be involved with a number of charitable organizations in an effort to show that teens can make a positive impact in their community. Members of the board will be a part of events such as Fashion Camp, Lights Up, Personal Shopper program/events, fashion shows, as well as have the freedom to develop their own events and partake in community partnerships.

To apply for the teen board, students must be a high school student between the ages of 14 and 18, be in good standing at their school and must provide evidence through their application that they are dependable, creative, insightful and detailed. The application includes a 250-word essay and two letters of recommendation from individuals other than the students’ parents. The SummitUP Teen Advisory Board is a 12-month commitment from August 2012 through August 2013. Applications must be received (not postmarked) no later than 6 p.m. June 1 at the Guest Services Office at The Summit.
