Kwon appointed to state Public Works Board

LAS VEGAS — This week, state Senate Majority Leader Steven Horsford announced Steven O. Kwon as his appointment to the Nevada State Public Works Board.

Kwon is the founder and president of GKG Builders, which was established in 1986 and offers general contractor services as well as commercial, industrial and land development.  He is a native of Korea and became a naturalized citizen of the United States in 1981.  Kwon graduated from the College of Building Technology at Copenhagen University in Denmark with degrees in both engineering and fine arts.

Kwon was a driving force in creating the first Asian Chamber of Commerce in Las Vegas in 1986.  He has also been a board member of the Urban League of Southern Nevada and the Nevada Association for the Handicapped.  He is currently a member of the Las Vegas Rotary Club.  Among many other accomplishments, Kwon also was successful in establishing a sister-city relationship between Las Vegas and An San, Korea.
