SPARKS — Nevada workers will remember those killed and injured on the job today as part of the AFL-CIO’s national Workers Memorial Day annual campaign.

Among other things, speakers will highlight the Silver State’s substandard safety enforcement due to underfunding, a press release stated.

Sponsored by the Northern Nevada Central Labor Council/AFL-CIO, the gathering happens at 4:30 p.m. at the Victorian Square Amphitheater in downtown Sparks.

Workers and labor leaders will speak. Friends and relatives of Nevadans killed or injured on the job are encouraged to come. Candles will be lighted for those who gave their lives for a paycheck.
