RENO — The Reno Aces forced extra innings in the ninth, then overcame a one-run deficit in the 10th Monday night, walking-off with a 14-13 victory over the Sacramento River Cats in a wild affair at Aces Ballpark.

The Aces led 4-0 early and took a 10-5 lead into the eighth, but the River Cats clawed back with five runs in the eighth and two more in the ninth to take a 12-10 lead. In the home half of the ninth, though, a Taylor Harbin sacrifice fly and a two-out, run-scoring single by David Winfree knotted the game at 12-12.

In the 10th, Sacramento re-took the lead at 14-13 on a run-scoring ground ball off the bat of Michael Taylor. In the bottom half of the frame, though, Harbin singled home the tying run and Adam Eaton drew a bases-loaded walk that chased home the game-winner.

Bryan Woodall (1-1)—Reno’s third reliever of the night—earned the victory, despite surrendering the go-ahead run in the 10th. Starter Zach Kroenke allowed five runs—two earned—on six hits over 5.1 innings of work.

The loss fell to Sacramento’s Neil Wagner (1-1), who allowed the tying and game-winning runs in the 10th.

At the plate for Reno, seven Aces registered a multi-hit effort—including 4-hit games for Winfree and Konrad Schmidt. Jake Elmore hit a solo homer in the fifth, his first of the season.

The series comes to a close on Tuesday afternoon at Aces Ballpark. RHP Joe Martinez (0-1, 4.42 ERA) gets the nod for Reno, and LHP Fabio Castro (1-1, 2.40 ERA) counters for Sacramento. First pitch is set for 1:05 p.m. PT, and fans can purchase two tickets, two hot dogs and two sodas for only $22.
