RENO — As part of the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMNH) Day at the Aces Ballpark, Nevada’s 2012 CMNH Champion Child will formally be announced during the opening pitch ceremony today at 1:05 p.m.

Timmy Jacobsen, of Minden, will be throwing out the first pitch on behalf of his younger brother, Joey, Nevada’s 2012 CMNH Champion Child. Four years ago, Joey survived a near tragic accident and suffered a traumatic brain injury. Joey is an inspiration and a true champion for all the CMNH children receiving treatment in Nevada.

Renown Children’s Hospital is northern Nevada’s only Children’s Miracle Network Hospital. CMN hospitals raise funds to help pay for medical equipment, programs and services for sick children who live right here in our community. One hundred percent of the dollars raised in our area stay local to benefit sick and injured kids at Renown Children’s Hospital.

Each year CMNH designates a Children’s Miracle Network champion child in every state who has endured severe medical challenges by bravely battling a serious injury or illness.  For their courage, one child from every state is selected as an ambassador to raise awareness for the 17 million kids treated every year at CMN hospitals. They will travel to Washington D.C. and Orlando, Fla. to celebrate and promote CMNH. The travel is made possible by official sponsor Ace Hardware Stores.  Other sponsors are Delta Airlines and Chico’s FAS store.
