LAS VEGAS — The Nevada Hispanic Legislative Caucus (NHLC) elected new leadership recently, while highlighting 2011 legislative accomplishments and reaffirming its commitment to a better and stronger Nevada in 2012 and the upcoming 2013 legislative session.

NHLC’s new leadership is as follows: Assemblywoman Irene Bustamante Adams — chair; Assemblywoman Lucy Flores — vice chair; and Assemblywoman Olivia Diaz — secretary/treasurer.

Joining NHLC’s new leadership are members Sen. Mo Denis, Sen. Ruben Kihuen, Assemblywoman Teresa Benitez-Thompson, Assemblyman Richard Carrillo and Assemblyman Steven Brooks.

Immediate past chairman Denis resigned his NHLC role to fully focus on his work leading the Senate Democratic Caucus. In 2010, Denis was instrumental in leading the caucus efforts to recruit, mentor and help elect six new Hispanic members, including the first group of Hispanic women elected to the legislature.
