RENO — Today is national Record Store Day and a locally owned music store is joining in the festivities.

Recycled Records, located at 3344 Kietzke Lane, will have live music today in honor of a national effort started in 2008 to recognize independent music retailers across America.

“This is the one day that all of the independently owned record stores come together with artists to celebrate the art of music,” according to www.recordstoreday.com. “Special vinyl and CD releases and various promotional products are made exclusively for the day and hundreds of artists in the United States and in various countries across the globe make special appearances and performances.”

Five bands will be playing acoustic sets at Recycled Records from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The bands are:

• 11 a.m. – The Apostles of Badness

• noon – Last to Leave

• 1 p.m. – Max Volume

• 2 p.m. – Sage & Honey

• 3 p.m. – Spike and Jackson
