RENO — Brüka Theatre announces the second installment in The Original Play Reading Series of the 2011/2012 season. “Prawn,” written by Wolfgang Price and directed by Tom Plunkett, will be performed at 2 p.m. Sunday.

The modern world is full of people struggling to communicate and connect on every level. “Prawn” examines the human condition from the nadir of reality: a pornographic studio. Sometimes unnerving, sometimes comedic, often poetic, “Prawn” questions why we put ourselves through two of the most tumultuous experiences of life: sex and love. But mostly sex. Lots and lots of sex. This play reading is explicit theater and recommended for 18 and over.

Audiences will enjoy a staged play reading and a discussion immediately following with the author to provide feedback and an open forum about the process. These plays consist of original works from the Brüka ensemble and also including local and regional playwrights. The intent of the readings is to give authors a chance to hear their work read by actors in front of an audience.

This is the second of four readings this season.  For a full schedule, visit www.bruka.org

Tickets cost $5 and can be reserved in advance by calling the Brüka box office at 323-3221 or purchased at the door on the day of the reading. Box office hours are 1 to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and noon to 4 p.m. Saturday. Brüka validates parking at the parking gallery on First and Sierra streets.
