RENO — Raise a toast for a great cause at The Colby Foundation’s inaugural food and wine gala and fundraiser, set for April 26 at Napa-Sonoma in Reno. All proceeds from the event help the foundation’s mission to promote awareness and education about life-saving organ and tissue donation and transplantation.

The Colby Foundation is a private, non-profit organization established in 1995 in Reno. The foundation provides an endowment to qualifying medical schools that incorporate the Colby Cassani Endowed Lectureship Series into their curriculum, teaching physicians about organ and tissue donation and transplantation, and how to discuss these important decisions with patients and donors. The foundation also educates the public by providing speakers, printed and online educational materials and a newsletter.

Napa-Sonoma Grocery Company is located at the Plumgate Center, 550 Plumb Lane in Reno. The event runs from 5 to 8 p.m. and features premier wines from Double Bond Wine. Food will be provided by Napa-Sonoma and the Eldorado Hotel Casino. The cost is $25 per person. The evening will include a raffle with featured prizes that include a Montreux golf package, Reno Aces front row seats and premier bottles of wine.

Tickets are limited and can be purchased by visiting the Colby Foundation online at or by calling Caryl at 857-8445.
