RENO — Hundreds of delegates and volunteers have signed up for the Washoe County Democratic Convention on April 14 at Wooster High School, featuring officeholders, state and local candidates and the election of delegates to the state convention, the next step in the process of nominating President Barack Obama to seek re-election as president.

Rep. Shelley Berkley, who is running against Republican appointee Dean Heller for the U.S. Senate, will address the attendees, along with nearly all the Democratic candidates on the 2012 ballot for statewide and local offices.

Delegates are asked to RSVP for the convention online at www.washoedems.org. Official convention registration must be in person. Delegates are encouraged to take advantage of “Happy Hour” registration from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. on April 13 at WashoeDEMS Headquarters at 1465 Terminal Way, Reno, for socializing and beer and wine.

Registration on April 14 starts at 8 a.m. Rep. Berkley speaks from 10 to 11 a.m. For more information, call 323-8683, or visit www.washoedems.org.
