Vying for honors in categories from most volumptuous to best costume to best snort, the pugs came dressed as ballerinas, cows, Burning Man burners, Yoda or just as themselves decorated in balloons or whatever their owners deemed to be cute at the time.
Lording over the proceedings from his perch in a stroller was Gobi (photo at far left), a veteran champion of Pugs on Parade and believed to be the region’s oldest pug at 14 1/2 years, according to his owner Wendy Svoboda of Reno.
Pugs on Parade was part of the Reno Pet Show within the Reno Expo. Al and Shirley Lockett, producers of the Reno Pet Show, decided to add a second pet show to the Fall Expo — in conjunction with the Reno Fall Home & Lifestyle Show, Nov. 3 and 4 — in addition to the spring home show held this past weekend.
