“It’s grown to be a huge event for our school,” Sparks Athletic Director Rob Kittrell said. “We started off in a small little room in the Elks Lodge on Rock Boulevard and within four years we had moved over to the rec center on Richards Way in order to fit over 300 people. The last few years we’ve raised upwards of over $15,000 for just athletics.”
The no-host cocktails and silent auction event will feature a wide selection of desserts starting at 6 p.m.
The auction cost $15 per person for entrance, along with a dinner buffet beginning at 6:30 p.m. Participants can reserve a table of eight for $120. Following dinner, the live auction will begin at 7 p.m. An all-night buy-in paddle is $40. Credit and debit cards will be accepted at the auction. All proceeds benefit Sparks High athletics.
“It’s a great event,” Kittrell said. “There’s a lot of alumni involved and teacher support. For me, being an alumnus of Sparks, it’s great seeing all the old alumni come back and have a night of fun while giving back to the athletic program. From the auction we’ve been able to buy all the hurdles and track equipment when we got the new track. We’re able to pay for meals when our teams go out of town, stuff like that.
“The people that go just have a great time. What it has turned into is an event where people buy a table with their friends and family. It’s a night for them to get together and sit around and socialize. On top of it all, their money is going to a good cause so it’s become a big social event for family and friends to show their support.”
