Spanish Springs debate coach Josette Jones accepts a certificate of recognition for the many awards her students have earned through the years from Adrian Eriksen, president of Versa Terra International. Eriksen, member of Sparks Centennial Sunrise Rotary Club, also helped present the school with the new trophy case, donated by the Rotarians. “It means a lot!” Jones said. “We need to show the community how intelligent our kids are.” The trophy case will hold the hundreds of awards Jones’ students have earned since 2001. The debate team was the only team in the state to place in the top 32 internationally. The team also went to nationals last year.
