LAS VEGAS (AP) — The Clark County coroner says a body found in Rock Canyon National Conservation Area outside Las Vegas was a 46-year-old hiker reported missing in mid-January.
Coroner Michael Murphy said Tuesday that Ronald Kirk was identified using dental records and the help of family members.
The body was found Saturday in rugged terrain at the popular hiking area several miles west of the Las Vegas Strip.
A cause and manner of death are pending, but police and family members say foul play isn’t suspected.
Kirk was originally from the Chicago area.
He was reported missing Jan. 22, several days after family members received a text message saying he was going hiking.
Kirk’s vehicle was found Jan. 23 in the Calico Basin area, and the keys were found with his body.
