RENO —The Washoe County School district has moved to an online registration system for all schools and families for the 2012-13 school year. Parents will be able to register their children using a new, more convenient online system that is being launched by the district this spring.
“As each school opens up their registration, parents will be able to register their children for school when it is convenient for them,” said D’Lisa Crais, the district’s Deartment of Family School Partnerships. “The system is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and is accessed through the Infinite Campus Parent Portal, a system already in use by many of our parents. Additionally, parents will be able to register all of their children at one location.”
Parents have had to visit each school in the past to register their children. This new system will save parents time. The online registration system is available to parents who register existing district students for the next grade, students who are new to the district, or students who have not yet attended school. Additional documentation may be needed in certain instances to finish the process.
Dates and times for registration are determined by individual schools. Schools will notify parents when it is time to register. Parents who do not have access to the Internet through a home computer can use computers at their child’s school or at public libraries, and assistance will be offered by school staff.
“The online registration system is a part of our ever-continuing effort to improve customer service and increase efficiency of the Washoe County School District. This transition is great for our parents and saves the district more than $100,000 in paper costs,” WCSD Senior Director Bryn LaPenta said.
