RENO — Several troopers from the Nevada Highway Patrol, as well as other employees from the Department of Public Safety, will be volunteering their time to raise money for Special Olympics Nevada on Friday.

Famous Dave’s Legendary Pit Bar-B-Que is the where all of the fun will be taking place during the lunch and dinner hours. Patrons will enjoy NHP and DPS employees serving as volunteer waiters and waitresses while they work for “special tips.”

As patrons are greeted, each volunteer will leave an envelope with each table for those wishing to make a donation. These tips are in addition to the regular server’s entitled gratuity. All of the extra tips will stay in northern Nevada to pay for the sports training and competition activities that area athletes enrolled in Special Olympics Nevada programs continue to enjoy year-round.

Famous Dave’s is located at 4925 Kietzke Lane in Reno. The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday.
