CARSON CITY — Gov. Brian Sandoval proudly presented the Veteran of the Month Award for February to Jerry Finley for his ongoing service and assist to veterans throughout the state.
“I have a profound respect for Mr. Finely, for what he’s done for veterans throughout the state,” Sandoval said during the presentation. “I cannot tell you how proud I am to present this award to him today.”
Finley is the second recipient of the Veteran of the Month, an award which acknowledges the work veterans continue to do to assist and honor those who have served in our military and continue to need assistance. Finley served in the U.S. Navy for 22 years and retired as a highly decorated CPOMC (E9). Since his retirement, Finley continues to serve in a variety of capacities addressing veterans’ causes. Through the years he has been a commander or vice commander at various levels of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). He has been serving as the vice-president for the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery Coalition since 2008 and is a current member of the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery Committee.
