RENO — A pedestrian was hit by a vehicle having mechanical problems early Monday evening.

The identity of the pedestrian is unknown in the incident, which occurred at about 5:10 p.m. at Northtowne Lane and N. McCarran Boulevard. According to Reno police, the driver of the vehicle lost control due to malfunctioning equipment while trying to turn south on Northtowne Lane from eastbound N. McCarran Boulevard. The pedestrian sustained moderate injuries and was taken to a local hospital.

The accident is being investigated by the Reno police traffic division. Investigators are asking anyone who witnessed the accident or has information about the accident to call 334-2141.
