SPARKS — A domestic disturbance call at about 3:10 a.m. Tuesday forced police to close Rock Boulevard between I and G streets for a short time.
Police reported receiving a 911 call about the disturbance at 834 Rock Blvd. Dispatch could hear sounds of a violent domestic disturbance in the background of the call, which came from the residence, before the line was disconnected. When officers arrived, a “distraught female,” identified as Ashley Runge, exited the residence with a shotgun. Runge gave up the firearm and was interviewed by officers. She said a domestic disturbance had occurred and the man, Zachary McGee, was still in the house also armed with a gun. Runge said McGee had made suicidal comments to her.
McGee refused to respond to several attempts by police to make contact with him. Finally, a bomb squad robot was used to search the residence. Ultimately, McGee and the other firearm were located. He was taken into custody and has been booked for one count of interruption of 911 and for an existing warrant for his arrest.
Rock Boulevard reopened at about 5 a.m.
