Nevada Humane Society goes through about 120 pounds of dry cat food and 80 cans of wet cat food a day. This Thanksgiving, the Nevada Humane Society is hosting a Cat Food Drive that runs through Sunday. The society is asking for non-perishable and unopened dry and canned cat food. Donations are tax-deductible.
Drop off cat food donations at the Nevada Humane Society, located at 2825 Longley Lane, Reno. The shelter is open 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Sunday though Friday and 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
“The pet food will be used primarily to feed the cats in our shelter,” said Denise Stevens, operations director for Nevada Humane Society. “We also use some food for our Pet Food Assistance Program that provides temporary pet food for people who are unable to purchase food for their pets due to financial hardship. This program can truly help see people through a difficult time and enable them to keep their pets. Right now we are nearly out of cat food, and donations are greatly needed.”
