RENO — The Chamber, Washoe County School District and the Education Alliance of Washoe County are accepting applications from Washoe County School District high school juniors for the 18th annual Youth Leadership Program.

These three organizations have graduated nearly 650 students through this award-winning program. This prestigious program is modeled after the successful Adult Leadership Program of the Reno-Sparks Chamber of Commerce. The Youth Leadership Program enhances leadership skills and community awareness for the juniors who are selected to participate.

Applications are due on or before Dec. 2. There is no cost to the students who participate. The application and eligibility requirements are available online at http://renosparkschamber.org/leadership.htm.

The program involves an evening parent/student orientation event in January, along with four one-day workshop for students. Each workshop is held at a different location and covers topics such as team building, law enforcement, communications, government and life after high school. One workshop is held each month in January, February, March and April. The students also plan and coordinate a variety of community service projects as part of a team. A graduation event for all the students and families is held in April.
