The program attracted 136 nominations and a total of 66,627 online votes as schools throughout Northern California and Nevada competed for five $5,000 grants to put toward their back-to-school needs.
Locally owned Raley’s stores partnered with Unilever to provide a total of $25,000 in grants to schools in five specified regions. PTAs, booster clubs, parents and community members in each region submitted nominations and votes. Many participants used Facebook, Twitter, website postings and flyers to encourage daily voting for the school of their choice.
The Raley’s Reach program was launched in May 2010 and has awarded more than $90,000 to 15 community projects.
