Her teammates all shot solid rounds as well, helping the Cougars take first place for the first time this fall.
Devan Gaddis and Joanna Perry both broke the century mark, shooting 96 and 98 respectively. Sammi Sorensen’s 102 was the final counting score for the Cougs, while Stephanie King’s 105 and Kirsti Settas’s 109 were dropped.
“Washoe is a challenging course, and it was in great shape,” SSHS girls golf coach Victor Sherbondy said. “We put together some good numbers today. We kept our focus throughout the day. We have some tired girls, but I’m pretty proud of them.”
Reno’s Denise Wilkerson took home individual medalist honors by finishing with an 82 on the Huskies’ home course.
The other Rail City girls golf squad in the HDL was in action Monday as well. Reed shot a 425 to take fourth place, led by Carlee Payne’s 95.
“Carlee Payne finished fourth overall, so I was really happy with that. She had a great day,” Reed golf coach Danielle Fleiner said. “A 95 is the best score she’s had on that course. For some reason, that course has always eaten her up no matter how well she’s playing. Today, she conquered it, so she was really happy with that.”
Rounding out the Raiders’ scoring contingency was Andi Lee (103), Abby Oliphant (107) and Haley Kutz (120).
Sierra Wurzer had a 124 and Amanda Vranken finished one shot back with a 125 as Reed’s non-counting scores.
Sierra Sage will host next week’s HDL tourney Tuesday.
