RENO — The Bonanza Casino will be hosting a charity event featuring a car show n’ shine and concert, with silent auction items and raffles to benefit Cheri Rich and family from noon to 8 p.m. on Sunday.
Organized by Capital Classic Productions and friends of the Rich family, all proceeds will go toward medical care and rehabilitation for Cheri Rich. The event will offer a car show ‘n shine with judging and awards, several live bands throughout the day, a poodle skirt contest and a silent auction and raffle.
Cheri is an avid and experienced equestrian. She had an accident in May of this year on her horse when it tripped, hurling her onto the asphalt. Cheri endured a terrible head injury that included a fractured skull. She suffered severe swelling and bleeding of the brain. Half of her skull had to be surgically removed to prevent brain damage. Needless to say, Cheri has a long road to travel on her way to recovery and the Rich family has and will have many challenges to face along the way — the largest of which is finding the appropriate care needed for rehabilitation without insurance coverage.
The charity benefit is open to the public. A $15 entry fee comes with a dash plaque and all proceeds support Cheri’s medical needs and rehabilitation.
The Bonanza Casino is located at 4720 N. Virginia St. in Reno.
