RENO — The Launching Pad will hold “The 2011 Shoot Out for Recovery – No Limit Texas Hold ‘Em Poker” tournament from 6:30 to 10 p.m. on Aug. 27 at the Atlantis Casino and Resort Spa. The tournament will have a WSOP Format.

The prizes for the tournament include a 46-inch, flat-screen TV donated by Best Buy in Spanish Springs, rounds of golf at Montreaux, Red Hawk and Lakeridge, rooms and dinners at the Atlantis Casino Resort and Spa, gift cards and more.

A single player buy-in is $100 for $2,000 in chips; re-buys are $50 for $2,000 in chips, unlimited the first hour. After this, players will have an opportunity to “top-off” their stack for $50. Top-off players receive $2,000 in chips. The tournament is limited to 10 tables.

The Launching Pad Empowerment Center, a Reno nonprofit organization, helps people working to be sober, their families and the workforce through housing, support and guidance. The organization operates solely on donations, some client fees and fundraisers. The organization operates without the use of tax dollars.

Executive Director Sandy Finelli is seeking companies and individuals as sponsors for the event.

Since the Launching Pad opened in March 2005, the organization has helped about 450 at-risk individuals transition into a sober lifestyle. In February 2010, the organization purchased a motel on South Virginia Street to better house all individuals. The renovation is nearly complete to expand the facility to a total of 34 bed spaces.

Individuals and companies that wish to participate can contact The Launching Pad by calling 853-5441, going online to www.launchingpadnv.com or emailing Sandy@LaunchingPadNV.com.
