RENO — The Salvation Army needs your help providing school supplies and clothing for 500 grade school, middle school and high school students who have signed up for assistance.

The kids need new backpacks and school supplies; hygiene products (shampoo, soap, toothbrush, etc.); art supplies and new socks/underwear. Gift cards for Walmart, Target or Payless Shoes also are needed so each child will have a new pair of shoes.

The Salvation Army has school supply collection barrels throughout the community. Many have posters with removable apple decals that list particular needs — much like the Army’s Angel Trees at Christmas. Barrels can be found at the following locations: Meadowood Mall, CVS Pharmacies, Sam’s Club, Mae Anne & Spanish Springs WalmartS, Moana Nursery, Great Basin Brewery, Adobe Café, PJ & Co. Restaurant, Jack’s Café, Shear Bliss Salon, Tangerine Salon and At the Ritz Salon.

Credit card donations are also welcome. To phone in a donation, call 688-4555, ext. 200.
