RENO — The Nevada Office of Veterans Services (NOVS) and professors from the University of Nevada, Reno, Truckee Meadows Community College and Western Nevada College are joining together to present the Northern Nevada Veterans Writing Project.

The project, open to veterans and family members, offers fiction and nonfiction instruction in a classroom setting for six weeks. A limited number of veterans who want to develop stories or sharpen an existing work will find support from instructors and fellow novice writers in this instructional workshop.

Classes will be held from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Thursdays, Sept. 29, through Nov. 3 at the Joe Crowley Student Union on the UNR campus. The culminating event will be a public reading of the creating works and celebration on Veterans Day at Sundance Books and Music in Reno.

There are no fees to participate and potential participants can register online www.veterans.nv.gov. Enrollment is limited to 20 participants and the deadline to register is Sept. 15.
