RENO — Cougars and tigers growl in the night, and the wolves and the coyotes howl. After dark is an active time for the predators living at Animal Ark Wildlife Sanctuary & Nature Center, so don’t snore while the tigers roar. Enjoy a flashlight-led tour under the stars during the comfortable cool evening temperatures.

Bring the family picnic and use the ark’s tables and playground. This is the only opportunity for a night “safari” around the ark. In docent-led group tours, you’ll learn about the behaviors, diet and habits of our resident wild creatures.

Seating is limited, so RSVP by Aug 3. No golf carts are available at this event. Children must be 8 years of age or older.

The Ark at Dark will take place from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Aug. 6. Tours start at 8 p.m. Admission costs $15 for adults and $12 for children and seniors.

To get to Animal Ark Wildlife Sanctuary & Nature Center from Reno, take U.S. 395 north to Red Rock Road (Exit 78). Turn right on Red Rock and drive 11.5 miles to Deerlodge Road. Turn right onto Deerlodge Road, drive one mile and turn right into the signed driveway.
