RENO — The Washoe County Library System has extended the deadline to apply for a position on the Library Board of Trustees to July 11.

The Library Board of Trustees appoints the library director and evaluates his or her performance, helps set library goals and objectives, approves policies, monitors the library’s finances, evaluates the library’s overall effectiveness and advocates for the library in the community.

Individuals interested in serving on the board of trustees must be residents of Washoe County and cannot be elected officials. Trustees must also be willing to devote the necessary time and effort to perform the duties of trustees, including preparing for and attending all board meetings, which are normally held on the third Wednesday of every month at 4 p.m. The term of service is four years.

Additional information and an online application are available via the Washoe County website at www.washoecounty.us/citizens/vacancies.html under the “L” listings.

To learn more about serving as a trustee, contact Library Director Arnie Maurins at 327-8341 or amaurins@washoecounty.us.
