During this two-week time period, law enforcement personnel cracked down on motorists who failed to wear their seatbelts — both day and night. The sheriff’s office initiated 315 traffic stops for various moving, equipment or registration violations. Of those 315 traffic stops, only 25 motorists were issued citations for not wearing their seatbelt. The fine for a seatbelt violation is $72.
The sheriff’s office wants all motorists to continue buckling up and for people to encourage their loved ones to do the same. Motorists will save the cost of a ticket and may even save a life.
