RENO — The Better Business Bureau serving Northern Nevada and the Lake Tahoe Basin is advising businesses to be on the lookout for an email solicitation to advertise in area high school football poster schedules.

Local businesses are receiving emails from Mike Lugo with American Publishing LLC (www.ampublishingllc.com). The business is located in Davenport, Iowa. According to the Iowa secretary of state, it also does business under the names of Ossian Enterprises LLC and Ads Sports.

The business has an F rating with the BBB in Des Moines, Iowa. BBB reports receiving six complaints against the business, and the business failed to respond to four of them.

BBB has confirmed with Washoe County School District and Lake Tahoe Unified School District that American Publishing, LLC is not an authorized vendor.

BBB encourages all businesses to check out companies asking for advertising support of high school athletic schedules and other advertising products. If a business is considering an ad, it should check with the school’s athletic director to determine if it has a relationship with the vendor.

Complaints about an unresolved issue or anyone who believes they have been misled by this business can file a complaint at www.bbb.org.
