The High Sierra Cat Club, in partnership with the Utah Purebred Cat Fanciers, affiliates of the CFA, will host the annual exhibition and competition. The show will be held in the Silver State Pavilion in the Grand Sierra Resort and Casino, 2500 East Second St. Show hours for both Saturday and Sunday are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Purebred and domestic non-purebred cats will travel from across the northwestern United States to compete in the 12-ring exhibition. Internationally recognized all-breed judges will officiate at the show and make presentations for “Best in Show” of more than 40 different breeds of cats. Spectators can expect to see such breeds as the popular Persian and Maine Coon, as well as the less-recognized Sphynx and the Siberian.
Local residents will also have the opportunity to show off their pets in the household pet competition. The household pet division is reserved for those entries that are non-pedigreed cats. Deadline for entries is May 15th. Persons interested in entering their cat may contact Neta Cox in Clovis, California at 559-322-5278.
For those looking for cat gifts and cat novelty merchandise, there will be vendors with everything from cat toys, cat teasers, cat furniture, t-shirts, hats, books and knickknacks.
An admission donation of $5 for adults and $4 for children and seniors will be charged. A portion of the proceeds from the show will be donated to benefit cats.
