March marked the 10th consecutive month that passenger statistics have increased month over month, according to airport officials. Cargo also showed rose 19.3 percent over the same time period.
Total passengers in the first quarter increased 1.3 percent over the first quarter in 2010.
March saw a .05 percent increase in passengers over March 2010. Spring break, an excellent snow pack and the United States Bowling Congress have helped keep passenger numbers high at RNO.
“We have seen a strong first quarter for both cargo and passengers and we hope to keep that momentum going into the Spring,” said Krys Bart, president and CEO of Reno-Tahoe International Airport. “The community can help boost these numbers, and the local economy, by continuing to fill aircraft seats.”
Cargo numbers were so strong that it was the second largest March on record for Reno-Tahoe International. The airport handled more than 10.5 million pounds of cargo in March.
Reno-Tahoe offers 68 nonstop departure flights per day with 7,928 seats to 16 destinations.
