RENO - One night removed from letting a one-run ninth-inning lead slip away, Reno saw a four-run lead evaporate in the ninth on Saturday, as the Tacoma Rainiers topped the Aces, 11-9, at Aces Ballpark.

Trailing 9-5 in the final frame, Tacoma scored six runs on three hits with the help of an error to flip a four-run deficit into a two-run lead. The Aces went silent in the home half of the frame, as Tacoma’s Denny Bautista slammed the door on his first save of the season.

Aces starter Kevin Mulvey was tabbed with a no decision Saturday after scattering five runs—four earned—on nine hits over 5.2 innings of work. After Jason Urquidez and Daniel Stange tossed 1.1 innings apiece, Jordan Norberto (1-1) was tagged with the loss, surrendering the eventual game-winning runs.

Manny Delcarmen (2-1) earned the win for the Rainiers, allowing two earned runs in two innings of work. Rainiers starter Chris Seddon did not figure in the decision after surrendering six earned runs in five innings.

At the plate for Reno, five Aces finished with a multi-hit effort. Collin Cowgill continued his torrid stretch with a triple, two singles and an RBI. David Winfree, Brandon Allen and Cole Gillespie chipped-in two hits apiece, as did Mark Hallberg, who was transferred to Reno this afternoon.

The series finale between the Aces and Rainiers is set for Sunday at 1:05 p.m. PT. RHP Kyler Newby (0-1, 6.39 ERA) toes the slab for Reno, while Tacoma will counter with RHP Chaz Roe (0-1, 6.05 ERA). Sunday is McDonald’s Youth League Day at Aces Ballpark.
