RENO — David Winfree launched a two-out solo home run to center field in the bottom of the 12th inning, giving the Reno Aces a comeback, 13-12 victory over the Tacoma Rainiers Thursday night at Aces Ballpark.

The Aces trailed 9-4 and 12-9, but came back twice to tie the score at 12 heading into the ninth. In the ninth, Reno had runners on second and third with one out, but couldn’t push across the winning run, sending the game to extra frames.

After both bullpens kept it close, Winfree ended the festivities with his third home run of the year and 100th of his professional career. It was the Aces' season-high sixth home run of the game, five of which were solo blasts.

Daniel Stange (2-0), the sixth Aces pitcher of the night, earned the win after tossing two scoreless innings of relief. Matt Torra started and took a no-decision, allowing four earned runs and 10 hits in four innings of work.

Thursday's loss fell to Rainers' reliever Josh Lueke (0-1), who allowed Winfree's game-winning home run in his second inning of work.

Collin Cowgill finished with four hits—two of which were solo home runs—and four runs scored. Wily Mo Peña, Cody Ransom and Brandon Allen homered for the Aces, who finished with 20 hits on the evening.

Reno will square off against Tacoma again Friday night, with Reno RHP Micah Owings (3-0, 2.81 ERA) set to face Tacoma RHP Blake Beavan (1-0, 4.50 ERA). First pitch is set for 6:05 p.m. PT, and it will be a Saint Mary's Fireworks Friday presented by KRNV News 4.
