With her older sister already inking a full-ride scholarship to Utah State for gymnastics, Erika Aufiero is doing her best to not be overlooked this year.

Aufiero, a 16-year-old junior at Bishop Manogue and a Sparks resident, is competing at the Junior Olympics Regionals today in Anaheim, Calif. with the hope of qualifying for the Nationals on May 16.

Aufiero won the Nevada state championship with a score of 38.025 and is one of six Nevadans competing at the regional gymnastics meet. The other five girls from Nevada reside in the Las Vegas area.

Aufiero trains with Deltchev Gymnastics.
