RENO — Three people were arrested Tuesday for ambushing a man and robbing him.

At 4:50 p.m., Reno police officers responded to a motel in the 1700 block of E. Fourth Street regarding a robbery which had just occurred.

Officers learned the victim was lured to the motel by an acquaintance, Christopher Reardon, 33. Once he arrived there and entered the room he was confronted by another man, Neil Allen, 33, and Steven Gunderson, 33, both armed with firearms. Allen and Gunderson stole the victim’s money and cellular telephone while Reardon blocked the doorway. The suspects then ran to a waiting vehicle and fled the scene.

A Reno police officer was responding to the call when he spotted the suspect vehicle at Fourth and Virginia streets. Officers made a stop on the vehicle and the occupants were positively identified as the suspects from the robbery. A pistol, which later turned out to be a replica, was observed on the floor of the car. After completing a search of the car, officers also located a shotgun, narcotics and paraphernalia. The items stolen in the robbery were recovered. All the suspects were taken into custody without incident and booked into the Washoe County Jail.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact the Reno Police Department Robbery/Homicide unit at 334-2188 or remain anonymous by calling Secret Witness at 322-4900.
