Man shot, killed in confrontation

RENO — Police are investigating a shooting death that occurred Wednesday night.

At 9:45 p.m., Reno police officers responded to a report of shots being fired in the 3300 block of Everett Drive. The reporting person told police he went to investigate a suspicious vehicle near his house when he was confronted with what he reported to be deadly force. The resident said he acted in self-defense discharging his weapon which, ultimately lead to a young man being shot and killed during the confrontation. The matter continues to be under investigation by Reno Police homicide detectives.

The name of the victim is being withheld pending the investigation and notification of next of kin.

The Reno Police Department is asking the public for assistance in investigating this case. Detectives are interested in speaking with any witnesses to the crime.
