INCLINE VILLAGE — A woman has been arrested for attacking a man with a gun during a fight.

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a physical disturbance at 9:40 p.m. Friday from a residence on Crest Lane. The reporting party told the dispatcher that a pistol was involved and a woman was bleeding from causing injury to herself.

When deputies arrived, they made contact with the two people involved in the dispute. The woman, identified as Michele Maher, 45, was bleeding significantly from her left hand. Maher was transported to Renown Regional Medical Center for further examination and treatment. The man in the incident was not injured in the fight. Both persons had reportedly been drinking alcohol prior to the fight.

Prior to sheriff’s deputies arriving on scene, the individuals had been involved in an argument. When the man tried to leave, Maher reportedly fired her .40 caliber Smith and Wesson hand gun at him. She then advanced toward the man after he tried to hide behind a vehicle. The two then became involved in a brief struggle before the gun fired, causing Maher’s injury.

Detectives arrested Maher on Saturday for assault with a deadly weapon, discharging a firearm where a person is endangered and possession of a firearm while under the influence of alcohol. Maher’s bail is set at $6,890.

Anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact the Detectives Division at 328-3320 or remain anonymous by calling Secret Witness at 322-4900.
