RENO — A fight led to a shooting early Sunday morning.

At 2:44 a.m. Sunday, a Reno police officer was responding to a noise disturbance of a loud party in the residential neighborhood of Monterey Shores and Cypress Shores in Stead. As the officer arrived on scene, he heard several shots fired and located the victim of a single gunshot wound, in addition to multiple subjects milling around and leaving the scene.

The investigation revealed that a fight broke out inside the residence where a large party was being held. The fight spilled out into the street where the suspect fired multiple rounds from a handgun, striking the victim, a 22-year-old male resident of Reno. The suspect fled the area.

The victim’s injury does not appear to be life-threatening. He was in surgery on Sunday. The suspect is described as a black male adult wearing a black jacket and dark jeans.

This case is believed to be gang related. Anyone with additional information is urged to contact the Reno Police Department Detective Division at 334-2115 or Secret Witness at 322-4900.
