Potential adopters are being asked to fill in the blank when it comes to paying the adoption fees, which include vaccination, spay/neuter surgery, microchip, behavioral assessment, grooming, dental care and, for cats, Felv/FIV tests and deworming. All these add up to a $350. The SPCA of Northern Nevada traditionally charges between $50 and $130 to adopt a dog and between $30 and $60 to adopt a cat.
SPCA of Northern Nevada Animal Shelter is open for adoptions six days a week from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. SPCA will adopt animals at Pet Smart located at 6675 Virginia St. in Reno every Saturday and Sunday with the Name Your Price promotion in effect.
“We can’t put a price on the love people receive when adopting a pet,” said Tom Jacobs, executive director of SPCA of Northern Nevada. “This program has been very effective in other parts of the country and we are excited to be able to offer this program all month.”
