CARSON CITY — More than two dozen of Nevada’s newest law enforcement officers will graduate from the Department of Public Safety’s training academy in Carson City on Friday.

After spending almost six months learning the fundamental skills to serve as state troopers, parole and probation and capital police officers, 22 men and women of Academy Class No. 64 will recite the official oath of office to serve and protect Nevada, and will receive their badges. Eighteen graduates will be assigned to the Highway Patrol division, three will be starting their careers in the Parole & Probation Division and one will join the ranks with Capitol Police.

The ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. in the ballroom at the Carson Nugget located at 507 N. Carson St. The keynote speaker will be Frank Adams, executive director of the Nevada Sheriffs’ and Chiefs’ Association.
